Question: Are MT4 and MT5 the same? Can I use both trading platforms for one trading account?
MT4 and MT5 are both developed by the same company, MetaQuotes, but these platforms are different for trading accounts.
If you have a MT4 trading account, you cannot login to MT5 trading platform with the account and vice versa.
Although MT4 and MT5 are very similar visually, they are two different trading platforms.
MT5 for the future
In November 2016, MetaQuotes has announced that the company will stop working on updating the MT4, and will focus on building MT5.
MT5 is still lacking basic tools inside comparing to MT4 and majority of Forex brokers still prefer to use MT4. MT4 is surely the most popular trading platform in the world though, we are all expecting the MetaTrader5 to be the next popular platform in the future.
