Question: How can I setup more security measures to protect my MT4 and MT5 accounts?
Your MT5 trading account would be like a bank account with the ability to trade Forex and many other financial instrument.
It is very important that you keep your trading account safe, so there won’t be any security breaches.
In order to improve the security of your MT5 trading account there are mainly 3 things you can do.
1. Change the password directly from MT5 trading platform
Periodically, you are recommended to change the password for your trading account.
To do that, please go to “Tools” → “Options” → “Server” → “Change”.
Then you can change the password for your MT5 account directly.
2. Setup SSL Certificate from trading server
SSL certificate will increase the security level very high.
Although, this extra security option can be only enabled from trading servers but not from trading accounts, so there is basically no choice for traders if they would enable this or not.
If your trading server requires SSL certificate, then you just need to keep the “Certificate”(the folder where the certificate is saved on hard disk), so no one else can login to your trading account without it.
3. Enable “One Time Password” security
“One Time Password” security option can be enable from MT5 app of your mobile device.
To enable this security option, you just need to download the MT5 app into your iOS or Android devices.
Then, “bind” your trading account from “Settings”, and your Desktop MT5 will require “One Time Password” from the next time.
*After enabling this option, you cannot login to your trading account on PC without the mobile device with MT5 app.
