Question: How to setup MT4/MT5 (MetaTrader) Email notification/alert?
First, you need your own “SMTP server” to enable this option, as MT5 platform itself doesn’t have a domain or an email address to send email notifications.
If you don’t have a SMTP server for MT5 platform, alternatively you can use “Push Notification” of MT5 which can notify your for all successful trade executions on the MT5, via MT5 mobile app to your mobile device.
If you have a SMTP server ready for transferring emails, please go to “Tools” → “Options” → “Email”. Then fill in the required fields.
You will need following information to enable this “Email notification”.
- SMTP server
- The address of the SMTP server and port used. This server is used to send emails. The record must be made in the following format “[server web address] : [port number]”. For example, “smtp.mail.ru:25”, “smtp.gmail.com:465” etc.
- SMTP login
- A login for authentication on the mail server, usually it is an email address, for example, “your_name@mail.net”.
- SMTP password
- A password for authentication on the mail server (your mailbox password).
- From
- The email address, from which the message will be sent. Enter the name and address of the email account on the same mail server, the SMTP-protocol of which will be used. The name may also be missing. Example of this field: “your_name, your_name@mail.ru”.

- The email address, to which the messages will be sent. Name and address are also specified here, but the name may be omitted, for example: “any_name, any_mail@mail.net”.
