Question: I can't download MT4 platform from MetaQuotes Website but only MT5, why is this?
MetaQuotes has started working on MetaTrader5 trading platform mainly instead of MT4 since 2017.
Now you can only download MetaTrader5 trading platform from all MetaQuotes’s official websites.
Even you download the platform by following the links for MT4 platform, you will have the MT5 platform downloaded eventually.
In order to download a MT4 platform to your PC, you will need to acquire one from your FX broker.
All MT4 brokers still have download links for MT4 trading platform, and you can get the latest version of the platform form them.
One MT4 for Demo Accounts of different brokers
Normally the MT4 platforms downloaded by a FX broker, comes with always their own logo and customized symbols in the “Market Watch” window.
But, you can still use the MT4 for other FX brokers.
To do that, go to “File” and “Open an Account”, then you will see the below screen.
Now, at the “add new broker like….”, type the sever name of any brokers.
MT4 will show up all relevant server names, and you can use the server names to login to Demo or Live trading accounts of any FX brokers.
