“AltCoins” refers to the Cryptocurrencies created and issued after Bitcoin.

As the name comes from “Alternative Coins”, these coins are considered as alternative solutions to Bitcoin and often introduced with extra features to Bitcoin’s fundamental protocol.

“Altcoins” includes many new Cryptocurrencies such as Ethereum, Ripple, Litecoin and Dash.

Since the publication of Bitcoin’s system and protocol, there are many developers working on new Blockchain system and creating coins.

In 2018, there is a number of new Cryptocurrencies created every day. Although they are all given different names and targeting different types of users, its base protocol itself is almost the same between them.
