SSL certificate stands for “Secure Sockets Layer” certificate, it is a digital certificate that authenticates the identity of a website and encrypts information sent to the server using SSL technology.
SSL certificate is normally activated from your Forex broker’s trading server side. (although it is very rare to see a Forex broker with this certificate)
By activating the authentication system, your trading account and trading server will be protected even more.
SSL certificate is kind of like the “https” on websites, which protects information transferred between the website and users.
What happens if “SSL certificate” is used on MT5?
This extended authentication can be enabled on the server.
When it is enabled, you can benefit from the following advantages.
- Connection between the trader and server is established over a custom protocol
- All data transmitted is encrypted
- No one can login to your trading account from other devices without the Certificate
- The login of the trading account will be protected with extra password
SSL certificate is used for the security of your account and server though, the authentication system needs to be set on the trading server’s side.
Thus if your Forex broker or trading server doesn’t require anything, then the SSL certificate won’t be available.
