Question: Why "Trailing Stop" orders don't work when the account or MT4/MT5 is closed?
“Trailing Stop” orders will be cancelled once you logout from your account or close the MT5 trading platform.
This is because “Trailing Stop Orders” are functional on your MT5 trading platform, but the information will not be registered to your broker’s or MetaQuotes’s trading servers.
Once your account is offline, all “Trailing Stop” orders will be cancelled and by nonfunctional.
This condition also applies to EAs(Expert Advisers), that is why EA users are recommended to use VPS(Virtual Private Server) service, in order to keep running MT5 platform and trading accounts.
The pending orders such as Buy Limit, Buy Stop, Sell Limit, Sell Stop, Buy Stop Limit and Sell Stop Limit are processed on the trading server’s side.
Thus these pending orders will be executed even if the account is offline.
