Does everyone on earth have an NFT? The most ambitious project in the crypto art world.

A Dutch artist conducted an interesting social experiment: creating a collection of 7.9 billion non-fungible tokens (NFTs). What is its significance? Unlike popular collectible-themed NFTs like Cryptopunks or Bored Apes, this collection is an identical set of NFTs.

The artist named Dadara has teamed up with digital rights management platform RAIRtech to create a series of NFTs called “CryptoGreymen” on the Polygon Ethereum extension network.

“Greyman” is a character created by Dadara in the 1990s. It was a bald man in a suit and leather shoes, carrying a briefcase with a world-weary expression. Although each NFT looks the same, it is marked with a serial number from 1 to 7.9 billion, corresponding to the current estimated number of people on Earth.

The Dadara project has lofty goals. He hopes the collection of NFTs can “break the cage of consensus reality and elevate the level of dialogue.” He explained the concept behind this social experiment in an official statement:

“No particular NFT is better than another, and since the price of making is widely available, it’s interesting to understand the value that each ‘crypto-grey’ holder brings to it”.

Given that these exact same artworks run counter to the concept of collectible NFTs, it will indeed be interesting to see how their activity in the marketplace performs. In addition to being a social experiment, the CryptoGreymen project is also linked to a humanitarian cause. “Movement on the Ground,” a nonprofit that helps refugees learn how to create crypto wallets, will lock 2,222 “little greys” as educational devices. Movement on the Ground’s actions aims to provide a “dignified, innovative, and sustainable response” to the global refugee crisis, using cryptocurrency and blockchain technology as a means of empowering refugees.

Future Art as the Most Valuable NFT Collection in History

The idea of buying futures is not new to experienced traders, but recent developments in the NFT art world require investors to demonstrate full confidence in an unknown future. SuperWorld artist Gabriel Dean Roberts has launched an NFT collection of 120 original artworks that have yet to be created. Rather, it is up to the buyer to purchase the artwork in advance.

The collection, dubbed “Omega”, or simply “Ω”, was sold for $50,000 at SuperWorld (the metaverse as an NFT marketplace). This NFT includes Roberts’ work over the next decade and a custom Rolls-Royce Wraith designed by him. The project also includes a humanitarian element: as part of the purchase, 1 million trees will also be planted and $1 million will be donated to Médecins Sans Frontières.

In a statement to the media, Roberts explained that the collection he designed is “the highest value NFT ever sold/resold” and will “break the order in the art world and change the way people view smart contracts as a tool” Way”.

Pixelmon’s art display angers investors, boosts the value of ‘ugly’ NFTs

It’s not all positive news in the NFT art space recently. Last weekend, the hot metaverse platform Pixelmon launched the final work of the NFT project, and a large number of buyers regretted it.

True to its name, the Pixelmon platform is inspired by Pokémon (open multiplayer games) where players can capture, cultivate and trade Pixelmon NFT products. Each Pixelmon NFT is made up of 3 Ether (ETH), which is the equivalent of $9,000 today. The project raised about $70 million before launching but ended up being a laughing stock.

The characters and environments that the Pixelmon project showcased during the promotion phase are very competitive and attractive. But after the official launch, the artistic quality of these models was far lower than the previous promotion, and buyers were very angry, accusing the developers of “rolling up” and deceiving consumers.

Investors are understandably outraged at the difference in Pixelmon’s image quality, but the rest of the crypto community is intrigued by the Pixelmon characters, some of which have become memes for their ugly looks. One of the turtles, named “Kevin”, was particularly ugly, rising in value by 4.75 ETH (~$13,900) and inspiring more similar character-themed NFTs.
