These events can significantly affect the Forex market.

Last week, trades on majors were very active. Volatility in the financial markets grew significantly. The US dollar was under pressure due to a possible trade war between the US and China and the growth of geopolitical risks. At the same time, the fall in the US currency was restrained. According to the FOMC minutes, the Fed is planning a gradual increase in interest rates.

In the upcoming trading week, we recommend you to pay attention to the following macroeconomic events and reports.

April 16th, Monday

On Monday, the attention of financial market participants will be focused on the report on retail sales in the US at 15:30 (GMT+3:00).

Experts expect improvement in key indicators.

April 17th, Tuesday

On Tuesday, we expect publication of important statistical data:

  • Minutes of the last RBA meeting on the monetary policy at 04:30 (GMT+3:00);
  • Reports on GDP and industrial production in China at 05:00 (GMT+3:00);
  • Statistics on the labor market in the UK at 11:30 (GMT+3:00);
  • A number of indices of economic sentiments in Germany and the Eurozone at 12:00 (GMT+3:00);
  • Statistics on the real estate market in the US at 15:30 (GMT+3:00).

April 18th, Wednesday

On Wednesday, a key event will be the meeting of the Bank of Canada.

At 17:00 (GMT+3:00) the regulator will decide on the interest rate. Experts expect that the Central Bank will leave the key interest rate at the previous level of 1.25%.

Important economic reports:

  • Statistics on the trade balance of Japan at 02:50 (GMT+3:00);
  • The UK consumer price index at 11:30 (GMT+3:00);
  • A report on inflation in the Eurozone at 12:00 (GMT+3:00).

April 19th, Thursday

On Thursday, we recommend you to pay attention to the following economic reports:

  • Consumer Price Index in New Zealand at 01:45 (GMT+3:00);
  • Employment change in Australia at 04:30 (GMT+3:00);
  • A report on retail sales in the UK at 11:30 (GMT+3:00);

April 20th, Friday

On Friday, investors’ attention will be focused on reports on inflation and retail sales in Canada at 15:30 (GMT+3:00).
