The economic calendar for the week ahead will see some key releases ranging from New Zealand’s quarterly inflation data to the RBA’s meeting minutes.

Elsewhere, the U.S. will be releasing the retail sales figures while investors await the final inflation figures from the Eurozone.

Australia will also be reporting on its monthly unemployment figures this week.

New Zealand quarterly inflation set to rise modestly

New Zealand will be reporting on its quarterly inflation data this week. The data covers the second quarter of the year ending June 2018.

According to the economists polled, consumer price index is expected to rise 0.5% on the quarter.

This is expected to push the annual inflation rate to 1.6% on the year ending June 2018. At 1.6%, the consumer price index is expected to rise slightly above the RBNZ’s forecasts.

At the monetary policy meeting in May, the RBNZ had forecast that consumer prices could rise 1.5%.

A subdued pace of increase is however likely to keep the RBNZ on the sidelines at the upcoming monetary policy meeting.
