Question: What is "Sell Limit" order on MT4/MT5 (MetaTrader) trading platform?
“Sell Limit” order is a trade order to sell at the “Bid” price equal to or greater than the one specified in the order.
When you use this order type, the current price level needs to be lower than the value specified in the order.
The lower-middle chart in the below photo shows the example of “Sell Limit” order on MT5 trading platform. (referred from MetaQuotes “help”)
The red point indicates the current market price, and the blue point indicates the point you like to sell the financial product in the future.
As you can see, this order is placed in anticipation of that the security price will increase to a certain level and will fall then.
All 6 pending orders above are executed on the broker’s side, but not depending on the platform.
Thus, after setting up pending orders, all pending orders will be executed unless you cancel the order even if you close the trading platform or disconnect it.
