Question: Who certifies my documents to open FX account or apply mortgage in UK?
FCA(Financial Conduct Authority) regulated UK companies may require you to get certified documents, such as certified passport copy, or other documents issued by a third party.
In order to get a “Certified Document”, you need to ask someone who can be categorized in one of the below:
- Bank or building society official
- Councillor
- Minister of religion
- Dentist
- Chartered accountant
- Solicitor or notary
- Teacher or lecturer
The individual who is going to certify your document doesn’t need to be specialized in certifying documents at all, but their occupations are mainly important.
In order to certify your document, there are specific information that need to be written on the copy of your original document. You may contact your financial company to find out what information are required.
Normally the information required to certify a document are, notary’s:
Name, Address, Phone Number, Sign, Occupation and “Certified to be a true copy of the original seen by me”.
