On Friday, the US published a rather weak statistics on the labor market. In April, the average hourly wage growth slowed from 0.2% to 0.1%. In the non-agricultural sector of the country, 164,000 new jobs were created, which is below the forecasted value of 189,000. At the same time, the unemployment rate dropped from 4.1% to 3.9%.
In the upcoming trading week, we recommend you to pay attention to the following macroeconomic events and reports.
May 7th, Monday
On Monday, the news feed will be fairly calm.
The publication of important economic reports is not planned.
We recommend paying attention to the speech by the FOMC member Kaplan.
At 02:50 (GMT+3:00) the minutes of the meeting on the monetary policy of the Bank of Japan will be published.
May 8th, Tuesday
On Tuesday, investors’ attention will be focused on the following economic reports:
- Retail sales in Australia at 04:30 (GMT+3:00);
- A number of open jobs in the JOLTS labor market at 17:00 (GMT+3:00).
May 9th, Wednesday
On Wednesday, the news feed will be fairly calm.
We recommend paying attention to statistics from the USA:
- Producer price index at 15:30 (GMT+3:00);
- Crude oil inventories at 17:30 (GMT+3:00).
May 10th, Thursday
On Thursday, central banks of New Zealand and the UK will make decisions on key interest rates.
We recommend you to pay attention to the comments by regulators’ representatives.

- Inflation report in the USA at 15:30 (GMT+3:00).
