If you don’t know the meaning of these nicknames, you wouldn’t understand what the analysis is really about at all.

Here are the list of nicknames of each foreign currency.

USD – US dollar

Buck or Greenback. It is the color of the currency. USD is also often mentioned as just “dollars”.

GBP – UK Pound

Sterling or Quid. GBPUSD pair is called “Cable”, it is from the transatlantic cable to transmit the price in former days.

AUD- Australian Dollar

Aussie.

NZD – New Zealand Dollar

Kiwi. It is from New Zealand national bird.

CAD – Canadian Dollar

Loonie. It is from their national bird which appears on the bank notes.

CHF – Swiss Franc

Swisse. CHF stands for Confoederatio Helvetica(the latin name of the country) Franc.

NOK – Norwegian Kroa

Nokie.

SEK – Swedish Kroa

Stockie.

JPY – Japanese Yen
