Question: What is the maximum leverage for Cryptocurrency trading in EU?
The maximum leverage of all Crypto-currency/Virtual Currency products(CFDs) should be limited to 1:5 by CySEC for all CIFs.
The standard leverage for Cryptocurrency by many brokers are currently around 1:3 though(in October 2017), it cannot be larger than 1:5 due to its risks associating with high volatility and lack of regulatory frameworks in EU.
While trading Cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, you should also note that trading in such products does not entitle the investors to any protection under the Investors Compensation Fund.
