When you first time open up a MT4, you will see only 8 symbols in there.

To display all the symbols, in the “Market Watch”, right click on it and select “Show All”.

You will see all the available instruments. If a symbol is grayed out, which means that you can not trade that one with your account type.

On XM’s MT4/MT5, different symbol names are available for different account types.
