Last week, the US dollar strengthened against currency majors. The dollar index (#DX) closed in the positive zone. Geopolitical tension weakened, which caused a higher demand for the American currency. Additional support was provided by the positive dynamics of the US government bonds profitability, which again reached highs since 2014. In the upcoming trading week, we recommend you to pay attention.

April 23rd, Monday
On Monday, investors’ attention will be focused on the following economic reports:
- The index of business activity in the manufacturing sector of Germany at 10:30 (GMT+3:00);
- A number of indexes of business activity in the US at 16:45 (GMT+3:00);
- Sales in the secondary housing market in the US at 17:00 (GMT+3:00).
April 24th, Tuesday
On Tuesday, we expect publication of important statistical data:
- Australian consumer price index at 04:30 (GMT+3:00);
- IFO business climate index at 11:00 (GMT+3:00);
- Consumer confidence index in the US at 17:00 (GMT+3:00);
- New home sales in the US at 17:00 (GMT+3:00).
April 25th, Wednesday
On Wednesday, the publication of important economic reports is not planned.
We recommend paying attention to the data on crude oil inventories in the United States at 17:30 (GMT+3:00).
April 26th, Thursday
On Thursday, a key event will be the ECB meeting at 14:45 (GMT+3:00).
It is expected that the regulator will leave interest rates at the same level.

At 15:30 (GMT+3:00) we expect statistics on orders for durable goods in the US.
April 27th, Friday
On Friday, the Bank of Japan will make a decision on the interest rate.
Experts expect that the Central Bank will keep the interest rate unchanged at -0.10%.
