Market Movers

• It was quite the lively Asian session with news out of Australia disappointing causing the AUD to sink!
• AUD was sold heavily following the inflation report. The first of the official 2017 inflation reports came in showing headline inflation falling short of the target band. Although the core measures were better (i.e. ‘better’ in the sense of closer to target for the RBA) the outlook ahead is likely for flat around these levels if not a little lower. Traders responded accordingly and sold the AUD.
• AUD/USD spiked a few points in the moments leading up to the data release but dropped once the data released, the move was hard and fast dropping to nearly 0.7500 only to bounce back up again and stabilise at 0.7515-20 .
• USD/JPY made its way higher, along with yen crosses. There was little in terms of news and data, but tomorrow we will wait for the Bank of Japan meeting conclusion, announcement and latest Outlook report.
• EUR/USD peaked at 1.0950 and is still remaining elevated at around 1.0940, so not too far from that high. USD/CHF is little changed, down a few pips on the session only. Cable saw little change along with precious metals. Oil seemed to rally early into the session only to get sold off again and stabilised at the levels before its rally.
