US Nonfarm Payrolls (NFP) data release will be awaiting on Friday, January 5, 2018 at 13:30 GMT.

The financial markets are back in full swing after the holiday season and are waiting for the US Nonfarm Payrolls (NFP).

After missing the forecasts for months, the NFP rebounded in December 2017, beating the expectations of 200K with a reading of 228K new jobs in the country.

With a job market near to full employment, analysts expect a reading of 187K in January 2018.

What is NFP?

Nonfarm Payrolls (NFP) is a report issued by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics on the first Friday of every month.

This report measures the change in the number of people employed during the previous month, excluding the seasonal farming industry (thus NON farm).

Job creation is the foremost indicator of consumer spending, which together with the Average Hourly Earnings data will help the Fed to determine its monetary policy in relation to the inflation in the country.

The financial instruments most affected by the NFP data include the US dollar, equities and gold.
